Winter Monestery Movement

Currently I am teaching one session of Dancemeditation™ in Baton Rouge. Sessions are open and offered on a donation basis (pay what you can afford), typical classes at Agame Yoga and Meditation Center are $10 each.

Beginning Sunday, February 26, 2012 I will offer a 4 week beginner’s bellydance class, open to all skill levels.

Learn the graceful art of bellydance, engaging in fluid movement through a follow-the-leader setting. Focus will be on breathing and creating soft spaces in our bodies while simultaneously energizing deep muscles, allowing the body to remember its full breadth of movement. Finger cymbals (Zils) will be incorporated into the movements from the beginning so that ear and body learn to work as one. No previous experience with dance or music is necessary. An extremely brief introduction of the history and the culture of the dance will be given at the end of each class. Some finger cymbals will be available for loan or purchase. (I will list a few places to purchase them inexpensively as well.)

In this dance, there are no “wrong moves” because every move comes from within.
